It's been 20 months since I've seen my friends in California.
In that time, between 4 couples, there were 5 new kids for me to meet.
Oh, Mark, you can't have just one.
I'm trying to keep it that way, and most people are shocked when I tell them that will never have another child.
My decision to make my child-bearing physically impossible was the result of being married with one child and three stepchildren, all of whom I supported. When the 10-year period was almost up in 1999, (after 10, the chances of a successful vasectomy reversal drop to less than 30 percent), I looked at all the population problems we have here and around the world and decided I was done.
People are constantly questioning my choice to stop after one child. I've reached a point now where I have no desire to be a Dad to anyone but my daughter.
Men with vasectomies who want kids have hope now, though. For the low, low price of $20,000, doctors can now successfully extract sperm from the testes and use artificial insemination. Nothing is forever.
