If you missed this show, you can still see them at the Gothic at the end of the month....
OK.
Added another Jason Forrest tune for Hubs, added a Hives song because the show is this week...and heck, Clem will be in town for it.
It's probably about time I link to Laloque, whose acid tongue lashes everything from hockey to politics, and of course a link to e our down under connection and a great excuse for going to Boston in a month. I should also mention Kevin5280 and not just because he lent me Pitch Black today, but because of his "last exit to springfield" notes on the blog. And of course there's giyjun a via-the-blog-thing friend whose always thinking up things to do and enjoys the rock as I do. And of course my little sister, Laurab, whose blog title couldn't be more appropriate. And I'm going to link to Jeff Hyde, but don't go there, as he never updates (ok, go, but just to look at his design skills). Here's hoping that some Vietnam pictures show up if I link to this.
So it's been an interesting week, the !!! show was great, a swirling sweating mass of humanity, always a good time. OK, occasionally that's a good time.
Ended up at the beavallon (I'm sure that's spelled wrong) hot tubbing at 3 am, that makes any week pretty good, no? And that after Ric's party got shut down by the cops. The whole evening made me feel like a kid again. Nice.
Missed Black Black Ocean for the 32nd time, just can't ever seem to see them and what's this? They're breaking up now? And I'll be missing the Hot IQ's yet again because of the hives show. Life is rough.

Taking a picture of Mike taking a picture of Strelka - or whatever her name was...
"You have twenty-six new messages"
Price I pay for going away for the wknd and deciding to not deal with the phone. I have no idea why phone messages freak me out, I mean, it's great people call me right? I'd be all lonely and sad if no one called...but sometimes it just feels like a weight of responsibility. Dumb, huh?
The Killers canceled their upcoming Denver show in favor of "appearing" on a radio show in LA. Ah, the pitfalls of living in a cowtown.
So, take the money you saved on that show and buy a ticket for The Hives. You'll be glad you did even though the hives pulled a killers stunt 2 years ago when they had all the press....
And don't forget, !!!
I've been listening to a little Jason Forrest lately. I figure it's a pre-emptive strike. It's my guess at what potential kids of mine would listen to and I'd yell from my lazy-boy, or hammock as it were, and say, "that's not music! in my day..."
Weird thing is, I kind of like it.
Check out a sample to the right.
That's pretty much how I felt after reading David Markson's book, "Reader's Block". It's an interesting modern novel comprised of mostly literary references - and descriptions of how famous artists/writers died. It's not organized like a novel, just independent sentences that usually reference some literary classic I haven't read. So, needless to say, I felt pretty poorly read afterward. I really need to read Ulysses one of these days...and that one just for starters....
The really crazy thing is that Markson manages to tell a coherent story of a lonely old man wishing he had more connections and meaning in life - and his contemplation of suicide. And all that in just fragments stuck between quotes and death stories.
